Good read. Thanks.

Any ideas how the callipers compare to TRP’s Hy/Rd? They certainly have a nicer, less bulky look. The Hy/Rd was a big step up from the company’s Spyre.

I imagine the bleed or oil change for these callipers would be performed in the same way as for the Hy/Rd. TRP supply instructions with their callipers.

I’d say the Ultimos have a more distinct contact point than the HyRd and a bit more power, although the latter is hard to judge without having the same pad compounds in both.

In terms of size, the Ultimos are way, way smaller – like, almost half. The HyRd caliper is absolutely huge, especially in flat mount form. But that additional size comes with an open hydraulic system that automatically adjusts for pad wear, plus more fluid volume so I’d expect it would also be better in terms of heat resistance.

As I said, I can't take credit for discovering it, but I'm more than happy to put the word out.

I think that it will take a lot to convince me that an inflatable helmet is a good idea. What if your helmet gets a flat mid-ride?

I find the idea interesting, but yeah, you and me both.
